Description:
Glacier Ridge is a relatively new
Metro Park which is still under development. The Park has dedicated
slightly over 20 acres for the development of a high quality disc golf course. The site for this course
has its limitations consisting of
approximately 1/3 woods and 2/3's old cornfields. The open section of the course
is a Links Style with tall rough just off the ample grass fairways, which
truly rewards accurate drives. Additional designed tree planting are
planned over time for this open area of the course which will provide
additional obstacles to flight of the disc. Considerable work was done
by the Metro Parks to control and improve drainage for the site particularly
in the area of the large swale that can be menacing and quite muddy during
and after large storms. There are two nicely hand crafted foot bridges
on the course which were the result of separate Boy Scout projects.
This course has a true "Around 9" putting practice game adjacent to the
first tee. The course has double tee and pin placements. Lengths
for the "B" pin placements are not significantly different than the "A"
placements so separate footages have been omitted. For variation some
players make the open holes more difficult by playing the fairways
"inbounds" and the rough "out of bounds". Give it a try, it's quite a
bit harder!
